I went to a wedding last week where they had mikasa crystal accessories on all of the reception tables. One of the highlights of the evening was when the bride gave up her garter for the toss. All those single men gathered together with a growing excitement while they watched the groom remove the leg garter from his bride. Then watching them fall all over each other, trying to be the lucky guy to catch it. One guy didn’t want to be in the garter toss contest, but the other guys persuaded him to do so, and this sweet little widower in his 70’s walked away with the lace garter. As the old man walked off with the garter in hand he was smiling from ear to ear.
For the bridal toast we all had crystal champagne flutes, that we were also given to take home, with the names of the bride and groom, and date of the wedding printed on them. After the best man said his speech and we toasted the bride and groom, it was time for their first dance together as man and wife. Watching them dancing together, so elegantly, was so moving. The floor quickly filled up with couples right after the wedding couple finished their first dance. My poor feet suffered the consequences of my all night dancing.
We all wished the bride and groom good luck as they left for their honeymoon. Hawaii was the honeymoon destination, from what I was told by one of the guests. Looks like their honeymoon will be just as fabulous as their wedding was. The rest of us partied until we couldn’t party no more.
A couple of weeks later, I received a thank you note from the bride and groom for the wedding gift and for attending. She really got to these thank you’s quickly. I did manage to get the information on the website that she ordered everything for the mikasa wedding from and the unique wedding cake topper too. So today, I’m placing my order for the special cake topper and other accessories for my parents special renewal ceremony and reception.

Behind the bride and groom table was a floral arch of red and white roses and green foilage and there were beautiful flower bouquets on the reception tables with silver sparkles scattered about. All the lady guests received small jewelry boxes with sculpted flowers and little crystals to add to its beauty. The men were given little key chains with the well known frog prince as a charm. As mother and father of the bride, we felt obligated to cover the cost of the wedding, but they were adamant about not accepting our assistance.
I felt the warm tears flow down my face as the two of them gracefully floated around the floor for their first dance. It was as if I were watching the real prince and princess in the Cinderella story dancing together. The guys got so rowdy trying to catch the garter, during the garter toss, that they had me laughing to no end. Her ideal honeymoon is where they are at the moment, and I’m sure it will be wonderful, too. She promised to tell me all about the great places they went to while on their honeymoon, as soon as she gets home.

With all eyes on us as we danced, I felt as magical as a princess in a fairy tale.

The guys at the bachelor party got my fiance a shirt that said ‘I survived my bachelor party, but I don’t remember how,’ along with some other crazy shirts and things. A mug with groom on it was another groomsman gift he got, along with a sun visor and set of wine bottles that were made for a man about to get married. He also got to keep the ball and chain they made him wear all night and an inflatable woman they gave him as gag gifts. The guys had other funny groom wedding gifts they gave him, to ad to the merriment of his bachelor party. The bride gifts I received at my bachelorette party were sweet, although some were meant as gag gifts too. I received a present with a big ribbon on top that turned out to be an elegant white evening bag made of satin with a crystal clasp on it. They put a pin and a shirt inside the bag that I had to wear for our night on the town, and there were some make-up and manicure accessories inside as well. But I think my favorite little novelty bride gift was a throw pillow that said ‘tonight’ on one side, and ‘not tonight’ on the other. What a crazy present that was, and I know I’ll have a lot of fun using that .
On the other hand, the bride and groom wedding gifts we got the reception were all more serious. We got about three toasters, four blenders and lots of waffle irons, but that is to be expected when you have so many people attending your wedding. We did get some of the things I had written on to our bridal registry, like the china I wanted and the food processor. One of the gifts my husband truly loves is his bar side set, which also included a very nice pool table from his dad and mom. As a wedding gift from my mom and dad they bought our plane tickets for our honeymoon to the Greek Isles. We got a tremendous amount of lovely presents from our friends and relatives, all of whom we adore so much.
They are what helped to make our day so special, just being there to share it with us, meant the world to both of us. They have shared so much with us, our last night of being single parties, our engagement party, and our wedding and reception. Being surrounded with great, supportive people like them is what makes life so much more enjoyable. It also helps to have friends that care enough to throw you a wild night with a bachelor party or a mind trippin girls night out bash. Having friends in your life like ours can really make life worth living. Thank you notes could never begin to express how much we appreciate their love and support.

Kids need bathtub toys, and Sesame Street’s Ernie even sang a song about one of the classics, a tune called ‘Rubber Duckie You’re the One.’ It seemed like a longshot, but I checked to see if there were any duck baby shower available anyway, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot simpler to put together such a baby shower than I anticipated it would be, especially with all of the outstanding input I gleaned from suring the Internet. There are a lot of adorable little duck favors and decorations to be found on the internet for baby showers and even toddler birthday parties.
I was holding the shower in my rec room in the basement so I had plenty of room to set up indivdual tables to seat four guests at each. On one end of the room was a table for all the shower gifts and on the other side of the room I had a buffet style table set up with all kinds of finger foods, drinks and deserts, including an adorable little yellow duck shaped cake with the words baby girl on the bottom layer. On the wall I had a huge cut out of Daisy Duck and smaller cutouts of Donald, Mickey and the whole Mickey Mouse Gang.
At each table were little pink picture frames that I used as place card holders and each frame came with a baby duck in the corner. There were duck favor candles at each table too and on the buffet table were paper plates, cups and napkins all with little baby ducks on them and even the punch bowl was unique. I went to a department store and purchased a little duck shaped baby bathtub and placed a glass punch bowl inside. It looked pretty adorable. I found an ice cube tray that made little duck ice cubes, so I put yellow water in them and froze them. Believe me, it was the most ducks you’ve ever seen in one place at one time.
On the world wide web, I found a bunch of great ideas, and that’s pretty much where I found everything I needed, but I did get a few recommendations from some of the people at my school. On the Internet is where I found duck shower favors, such as the precious duck favor bookmarkers I found, and the duck candles, too. We used them as prizes for the contests we had at the baby shower, and all of the guests adored them.
I put some rubber duckies in a large, square-shaped, makeshift tub that I filled with water before anyone got to the shower yet. Underneath every rubber duck, I wrote a number, and the each guest plucked one out of the water as they arrived. Later on I drew a number out of a fish bowl and the person with that number won a prize. We had a lot of fun with the guess the baby picture game, too. I hung a baby photo of every guest who brought their baby picture along on a bulletin board. Each guest got a chance to check out the board and see how many pictures they were able to match up with the faces of the other guests. The duck baby shower favor went to the one who guessed accurately on the most pictures.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, and the new mommy picked up quite a pile of wonderul presents for her baby girl. Going on the net to help me put together this shower was an outstanding decision. At first I wasn’t too sure about it, but it turned out to be a really great baby shower. Going with the whole duck genre worked out swimmingly.
